Facts Regarding the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the JDRF Tidewater Chapter

JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile (type 1) diabetes research worldwide. JDRF was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with insulin dependent diabetes. Today, the advocacy network of JDRF volunteers have been the driving force behind the growth to more than 100 Chapters, Branches, and Affiliates worldwide who are dedicated to the mission to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research, advocacy and family network outreach programs.

The JDRF Tidewater Chapter provides support to the Hampton Roads community on the Peninsula and Southside as well as to parts of North Carolina.  The Tidewater Chapter Family Network is in place to extend a helping hand in our community to those who have been impacted by Type 1 diabetes. The JDRF Tidewater Family Network and our Mentoring Program volunteers will help children with diabetes and their families learn to cope with the demands that the disease imposes.
